The reverse designed by Benedetto Pistrucci features the infamous Waterloo Medal and features portraits of the four Allied Leaders at it's centre who joined forces to defeat Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Waterloo of 1815 and depicts King George IV, Emperor Francis I of Austria, Tsar Alexander I of Russia and King Frederick William III of Prussia, while the obverse features the portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings. These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
