In 2023 to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III, the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Struck on the Day Coronation Celebration Gold Full Sovereign Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold and the entire issue of 1,250 coins were struck on Thursday 6th May 2023 the day of the Coronation celebrations and is the official Struck on the Day Coronation Gold Full Sovereign Coin.
The coin includes it's original Royal Mint box with it's individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Pistrucci's St George and The Dragon, seemingly inseparable from the British Sovereign, is acclaimed throughout the world as a masterpiece of numismatic art.
Its appeal has been so enduring that, with the sole exception of the special 1989 commemorative coins, it has graced the reverse of nearly every British sovereign since Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in 1887. The reverse design of the 2023 Gold Full Sovereign features Pistrucci's St George and The Dragon. The obverse depicts Martin Jennings portrait of His Majesty King Charles III.
