For 2022 the Royal Mint released the Britannia £1000 One Thousand Pound Silver Proof Coin struck in solid fine .999 Silver and weighing Two-Kilos of pure Silver.
The reverse designed by Dan Thorne echoes George William De Saulles’ Britannia, which appeared on the reverse of the florin from 1902 and shows Britannia turning slightly over her shoulder, whilst confidently facing forward and features Britannia holding a Shield with Lion and Trident while the obverse features the Fifth Portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
