For 2021 to celebrate the Queens Beasts Series, the Royal Mint released a special Collection of Silver and Gold Coins celebrating British Monarchs and the centuries of Heraldry.
The ninth coin in the series of 10, celebrates the White Greyhound of Richmond and has been issued as a 50p Fifty Pence Silver Reverse Frosted Proof Coin struck in solid .999 Silver weighing one quarter of an ounce of pure Silver.
The reverse features a stylized image of the White Greyhound of Richmond while the obverse features the Fifth Portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark .
The 10 Queen's heraldic beasts present at the Queen's Coronation in 1953 were as follows: L
ion of England, the Griffin of Edward III, the Falcon of the Plantagenets, the Black Bull of Clarence, the Yale of Beaufort, the White Lion of Mortimer, the White Greyhound of Richmond, the Red Dragon of Wales, the Unicorn of Scotland, and the White Horse of Hanover.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
