In 2019 to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of Captain James Cook Voyage of Discovery, the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Captain Cook £2 Two Pound Gold Proof Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold.

The reverse designed by Gary Breeze features the mast of ship HMS Bark Endeavour, Captain James Cook and the dates 1769-2019 while the obverse depicts the Fifth Portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
