In 2018 to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Paddington Bear, the Royal Mint released a special Limited Issue Paddington Bear at Paddington Station 50p Fifty Pence Silver Proof Coin struck in solid .925 Sterling Silver colourised by the Royal Mint and is the first coin in the series.
The reverse designed by David Knapton features Paddington wearing his famous duffle coat and battered old bush hat at the train station where he first meets The Browns, the family that take him in. This is where his story begins. He takes a journey across the sea tucked away in a lifeboat and eating marmalade sandwiches until he finds himself amid the hustle and bustle of London, while the obverse features the Fifth Portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
