In 2017, to celebrate the 1000th Anniversary of the Coronation of King Canute, the Royal Mint released a Limited Issue King Canute £5 Five Pound Gold Proof Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold Certified Slabbed and Graded by PCGS as PR70 DCAM with special NFC Anti-Counterfeiting Technology.

The reverse designed by Lee R. Jones depicts a portrait of King Canute the Viking conqueror hailed the first King of England while t he obverse design features the Fifth Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Jody Clark.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
