2012 Britannia £50 Gold Proof 1/2oz Coin PCGS PR70 DCAM First Strike
In 2012 to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the 25th Anniversary of the First Gold Britannia from 1987, the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Britannia £50 Fifty Pound Gold Proof Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold weighing one half of an ounce of pure Gold Certified Slabbed and Graded by PCGS as PR70 DCAM First Strike.
In a new and innovative interpretation, he has united two powerful symbols of Britain today, placing Britannia at the heart of a billowing Union Flag.
And, to the delight of the collectors past and present, he has chosen to picture her seated with trident and shield in the manner of the classic image that has featured on the pre-decimal pennies of every monarch since Charles II, while the obverse features the portrait of Her Majesty The Queen by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
