In 2012 to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the 25th Anniversary of the First Ever Britannia, the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Britannia £1 One Pound Silver Proof Coin struck in solid .958 Silver and weighing one half of an ounce of fine pure Silver.
The reverse design is Philip Nathan's original portrait of Britannia while the obverse has Ian Rank Broadley's portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
