In 2009, the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Deluxe Decimal Proof 12 Coin collection which contains Proof specimens of the circulating range of Coinage from the United Kingdom.
Included in this set is the new King Henry VIII £5 Five Pound Coin marking the 500th Anniversary of his Accession.
It also contains three bi-colour £2 coins: the standard version with its reverse symbolic of technological progress Shoulders of Giants £2 Two Pound Coin, a special commemorative £2 Two Pound Coin commemorating the 250th Anniversary of Robert Burns and a special £2 Two Pound Coin commemorating the 200th Anniversary of Charles Darwin.
The £1 One Pound Coin bears the new design of the Royal Arms designed by Matthew Dent and the new Kew Gardens 50p Fifty Pence, while the remaining coins from the 50p Fifty Pence down to the 1p One Pence are the new coinage also designed by Matthew Dent each representing a part of the Coat of Arms.
The obverse of all the coins have the stunning portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank Broadley.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
