In 2008 to celebrate the Elephant, the South African Mint released a very Limited Issue Natura Elephant 10 Ten Rand Gold Proof Coin struck in solid Fine 999.9 Gold weighing one-tenth of an ounce of pure Gold.

To continue the theme of "Giants of Africa" series the 2008 coins depicts the Elephant.
The reverse depicts an Elephant eating together with the word "Natura" and the denomination "R10".
On the obverse, a left three-quarter view of an Elephant on top of a Frieze of Elephant herd.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
