In 2003 the United States Mint released a Limited Issue Liberty Eagle $1 One Dollar Silver Coin struck in solid .999 Silver weighing one ounce of fine pure Silver.
The obverse is the rendition of Adolph A Weinman's magnificent Walking Liberty design originally prepared and executed for the nations first circulating half dollar coin in 1916.
The reverse designed by John M Mercanti portrays a heraldic eagle with a shield. The eagle has arrows in the right talon and an olive branch in the left.
