In 2002, to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, The Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Golden Jubilee £50 Fifty Pound Silver Proof Coin struck in solid .999 Silver weighing one Kilo of fine pure Silver and part plated in 24 Carat Gold.

The reverse designed by Claire Harper depicts the scenes of London on Coronation Day while the obverse has the regal portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
