The reverse design of both coins depict a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II while the obverse of the Alderney coin carries the elegant portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf while the Guernsey coin carries the more recent Ian Rank Broadley's portrait. These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
