In 2000 to celebrate the Millennium, the Royal Mint released a very special Limited Issue Welsh Dragon £1 One Pound Proof Coin.
The reverse, designed by Norman Sillman, depicts the Royal Badge of Wales, The Welsh Dragon and the obverse is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Ian Rank Broadley. These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
