In 1997 to celebrate the Golden Wedding Anniversary of the Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Golden Wedding £5 Five Pound Gold Proof Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold Certified Slabbed and Graded by PCGS as PR70 DCAM with special NFC Anti-Counterfeiting Technology.

The reverse is designed by Leslie Durbin and combines the Royal Arms and the Royal Crown beneath them is an anchor, representing the Prince's naval career.
The obverse depicts a portrait of the royal couple designed by Philip Nathan.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
