In 1976 to celebrate the Lunar Year of the Dragon, the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Lunar Dragon $1000 One Thousand Dollar Gold Proof Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold on behalf of the Hong Kong Government Certified Slabbed and Graded by PCGS as PR70 DCAM with special NFC Anti-Counterfeiting Technology.

The reverse design depicts an artists impression of a Dragon while the obverse features Arnold Machin's portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
