In 1964 to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Bank of Israel released a very Limited Issue 50 Lirot Gold Proof Coin with a special "Mem" indicating its the Proof version struck in solid .917 Gold and Certified Slabbed and Graded by PCGS as PR65.
The reverse depicts the State emblem in the center, the Menorah surrounded either side by olive branches separated by the word "Israel". The inscription "Fifty Lirot" in Hebrew and the word "Israel" in English and Arabic along with the anniversary year "1964/5725" in Hebrew and English is placed around the rim.
The obverse depicts a double cornucopia separated by a single pomegranate with the inscription "Tenth Anniversary of the Bank of Israel" in Hebrew.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
