In 1953 to celebrate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, the Royal Mint released a Limited Issue 5 Five Shilling Proof Crown Coin Certified Slabbed and Graded by PCGS as PR65 CAM.
The reverse designed by Gilbert Ledward RA depicts in the centre a Crown, a features four quarters of the Royal Arms and in between each shield the emblems of the home nations – a rose, a thistle, a shamrock and a leek for Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales with an edge inscription of 'FAITH AND TRUTH I WILL BEAR UNTO YOU'.
The obverse features a portrait of The Queen, mounted on her horse Winston, dressed in her uniform as Colonel-in-Chief of the Grenadier Guards as worn by Her Majesty during the ceremony of Trooping the Colour.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
