In 1951 to celebrate the Festival of Britain held on the Southbank in London, the Royal Mint released a special Limited Issue George VI Proof 10 Coin Collection.
The collection comprises the 5 Shillings Crown, Halfcrown, Florin, English Shilling, Scottish Shilling, Sixpence, Threepence, Penny, Halfpenny and Farthing. All the coins in the collection bear, on the obverse, the Bear Head Portrait of George VI.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
