The 1887 - 2002 Golden Jubilee Gold Sovereign 8 Coin Collection celebrates the Queen‘s Golden Jubilee and forms a pleasing numismatic link with Queen Victoria‘s Golden Jubilee.
Comprising eight Gold Coins, the Collection includes the complete family of Gold Sovereigns from 1887 and the complete family of 2002.
The obverse of all four Gold Coins of 1887 feature the portrait of Queen Victoria created by Edgar Boehm, whilst two designs appear on their reverse: the £5 Five Pound Coin, £2 Two Pound Double Sovereign and Full Sovereign bear St George and The Dragon by Benedetto Pistrucci, whilst the Half Sovereign shows the Shield of the Royal Arms.
The four Gold Coins of 2002 have been struck to proof quality and feature the Queen's portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, whilst on each reverse is the Crowned Shield of the Royal Arms, within a wreath of laurel, a special commemorative reverse design based on the Victorian Shield Sovereigns and re-drawn by Timothy Noad, a herald painter at the College of Arms.
The 1887 Sovereign coins are the best coins taken from the secondary market while the 2002 Sovereign legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
