In 1817 for the first time ever the Royal Mint released a George III St George and the Dragon Gold Full Sovereign Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold Certified Slabbed and Graded by PCGS as AU55 with special NFC Anti-Counterfeiting Technology.
In 1817 after the Royal Mint had moved from the Tower of London to a site on Tower Hill full production got under way and coinage changed from the old Guinea to the Sovereign.
The launch of the first sovereign designed by Benedetto Pistrucc i has the stunning St George and the Dragon on the reverse and the obverse has a portrait of George III.1816 which was a landmark in the history of coinage.
After the Royal Mint had moved from the Tower Mint to another site in Tower Hill full regular production was under way.
