In 1817 for the first time ever the Royal Mint released a George III St George and the Dragon Gold Full Sovereign Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold Certified Slabbed and Graded by PCGS as AU55 with special NFC Anti-Counterfeiting Technology.

The reverse depicts Pistrucci's St George slaying the Dragon with HONI. SOIT. QUI. MAL. Y. PENSE while the obverse features the Laur Head portrait of George III.

In 1817 after the Royal Mint had moved from the Tower of London to a site on Tower Hill full production got under way and coinage changed from the old Guinea to the Sovereign.

The launch of the first sovereign designed by Benedetto Pistrucc i has the stunning St George and the Dragon on the reverse and the obverse has a portrait of George III.
1816 which was a landmark in the history of coinage.

After the Royal Mint had moved from the Tower Mint to another site in Tower Hill full regular production was under way.
