In 2014 the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Britannia £25 Twenty Five Pound Gold Coin struck in solid 999.9 Gold weighing one quarter of an ounce of pure Gold Certified Slabbed and Graded by PCGS as MS63.
Britannia first appeared as a provincial figure on a Roman Imperial Coin of the Emperor Hadrian (117 - 138 AD), although she did not feature on English Coins until the Copper Halfpennies and Farthings of Charles II in 1672. Since that time Britannia has continuously appeared on Britain‘s coinage.
The latest in a long line of elegant and beautifully designed Britannia's can be found on the reverse of this 2014 Britannia £25 Twenty Five Pound Gold Coin.
The reverse depicts Philip Nathan's Standing Britannia while the obverse has the stunning portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank Broadley FRBS FSNAD.
