In 2009 the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Britannia £100 One Hundred Pound Gold Proof Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold weighing one ounce of pure Gold Certified Slabbed and Graded by PCGS as PR70 DCAM with special NFC Anti-Counterfeiting Technology.
The coin features the dynamic portrayal of Britannia in horse-drawn chariot created by Philip Nathan for the coins of 1997, the only other time it has previously featured on the gold Britannia coins.
The 2009 Britannia £100 One Hundred Pound Gold Proof Coin, therefore, represents the first time that this design has been combined on a gold coin with the portrait of the Queen by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
