In 2008 for the first time ever the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Royal Shield of Arms 50p Fifty Pence Gold Proof Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold Certified Slabbed and Graded by PCGS as PR69 DCAM .

The 50p Coin designed by Matthew Dent, features on the reverse one part of the Shield of the Royal Arms.
Once put together with the other coins, 20p, 10p, 5p, 2p, 1p will create the full Royal Shield of Arms.
The obverse is the stunning portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank Broadley.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
