In 2001 to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 75th Birthday, the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue £5 Five Pound Silver Proof 2 Coin Set struck in solid .925 Sterling Silver.
The reverse design of both coins depict a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II while the obverse of the Alderney carries the elegant portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf while the Guernsey coin carries the more recent Ian Rank Broadley's portrait. These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
