In 2000 to celebrate the Centenary of the Queen Mother, the Royal Mint in conjunction with the Bank of England released a very Limited £5 Five Pound Gold Proof Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold and a £20 Twenty Pound Banknote which features the special Cypher QM10 0 and the serial number between 000001 and 000200 and QM will not be produced for general circulation and therefore these are the only notes to have this cypher.
The reverse of the £5 Five Pound Gold Proof Crown Coin features a portrait of The Queen Mother with a background of cheering crowds in two modes of dress. Those who rejoice at her birth and those who celebrate her centenary. Below the portrait appears, with kind permission, a representation of her signature.
The obverse is a portrait of the Queen both designed by Ian Rank Broadley.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
