In 1997 to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the First Krugerrand, the South African Mint released a Limited Issue Prestige Krugerrand Gold Proof 4 Coin Set and includes the Mintmark 30th Anniversary Full Krugerrand Gold Proof 1oz Coin, and standard 1/2oz, 1/4oz and 1/10oz Coins.

The reverse of the coins designed by Coert Steynberg depicts a Springbok Antelope one of the national symbols of South Africa and the obverse of all the coins have the portrait of Paul Kruger.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
