In 2015 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the First World and the Battlefront Series, the Royal Canadian Mint released a very special Limited Issue Second Battle of Ypres $20 Twenty Dollar Silver Proof Coin struck in solid fine .9999 Silver and weighing one ounce of pure Silver.
The reverse designed by Silvia Pecota depicts Canadian soldiers in the trenches during the Second Battle of Ypres in 1915.
In its lower centre, selective gold plating showcases the winged figure of 'Victory' as it appeared on the Victory Medal that was awarded to the allied soldiers of the First World War and with the dates 1915-2015 while the obverse features a portrait of King George by Sir E.B. Mackenall.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
