In 2014 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Anzac Spirit, the Perth Mint released a special Limited Issue Declaration of War $1 One Dollar Silver Proof Coin struck in fine .999 Silver weighing one ounce of pure Silver.
The reverse designed by Wade Robinson depicts group of soldiers marching beneath a representation of Britannia holding her trident, and wearing a Corinthian helmet, symbolic of British liberties and democracy. The inscription, ‘1914 – When the Empire is at War, so is Australia at War’, a red poppy motif and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ Mint Mark are also incorporated into the design.
The obverse features Ian Rank Broadley's portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
