The revere depicts Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzig Norgay based on an image from Photographs of the 1953 expedition released by the Royal Geographical Society while the obverse features a traditional Nepalese design. These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
