In 1994, to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Allied invasion of Europe and Normandy Landings, the Royal Mint released on behalf of the Czech Republic a very special Limited Issue Allied Invasion D-Day Normandy Landings 200 KC Silver Proof Coin struck in solid .900 Silver.
The reverse designed by Jarmila Truhlikova-Spevakova and features a battle formation of British Spitfire fighter planes as flown by Czechoslovak pilots during the war, while the obverse depicts the National Coat of Arms of Czech Republic. These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
